Nobu Hospitality and Norfin Announce Landmark Partnership at Monte Rei

Monte Rei is proud to announce a landmark partnership between Norfin and Nobu Hospitality, marking a significant milestone in the resort's long-term vision for luxury hospitality in Portugal.

The project will introduce a Nobu Hotel, the internationally acclaimed Nobu Restaurant, exclusive villas and approximately 21,000 square metres of Nobu-branded residences, further enhancing Monte Rei's position as one of Europe's premier luxury destinations.

Set within Monte Rei's 400-hectare estate in the Eastern Algarve, the development will complement the resort's existing offering, renowned for its Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, exceptional residential community and commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences.

Construction is expected to commence in 2027, with the opening anticipated in 2029. The project also forms part of a broader vision for Monte Rei, including new leisure facilities and future lifestyle experiences.

As Monte Rei continues to evolve, this partnership reinforces the resort's vision of creating one of Europe's most distinctive luxury destinations, where exceptional hospitality, world-class golf and luxury living come together.

#1 in Portugal again

In the latest Golf Digest rankings, Monte Rei has again been confirmed as the #1 golf course in Portugal and also impressively, #27 in the World!

Acknowledging the stunning panoramic views to the Atlantic Ocean, the Golf Digest judges felt the design is a blend of modern and classic – wide fairways, aggressive bunkering and shallow, angled greens that shape around hazards including a variety of American-style water features.

Golf Course update

The last week has been a challenge for all involved, but we remain grateful as the situation could have been much worse. Aside from the damage to some of the native areas, the golf course has escaped significant damage and is now back open and very playable.
 
Head of Greenkeeping, João Goulao, expressed his pride in the team’s efforts. “I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the members of the maintenance team that had a vital role during the fire combat, and are now very committed to bringing our course back to its original condition.”

The practice ground and Swing Studio were unaffected but sadly The Academy Café was destroyed and will now be replaced.

Monte Rei sweeps the board in Portugal

The entire management team at Monte Rei are thrilled to confirm an almost clean sweep in the recently announced awards for Portugal from Leadingcourses.com.

Monte Rei Golf & Country Club achieved 1st place in the Golfers’ Choice Rankings 2021 for Best 18-Hole Golf Club, Best Golf Course, Best Maintenance, Best Facilities and Best Hospitality in Portugal.

The Golfers’ Choice Ranking is based on the reviews of the golfers, and is the largest golf review portal in Europe. Every month more than 400.000 golfers visit the website to determine where to play next and review the courses they have visited.

Vistas awarded Michelin Star

Monte Rei is very proud to announce that our fine dining restaurant, Vistas, has been awarded its first Michelin star. Led by Executive Chef, Rui Silvestre, the entire team has worked tirelessly to ensure Vistas offers the complete dining experience.

In confirming the award, the Michelin judges praised Vistas as “a kitchen of great finesse, deserving of a visit. Using top quality ingredients, dishes with distinct flavours are carefully prepared to a consistently high standard.”

Extensive renovation work continues over the coming months, and we look forward to re-opening in March 2020 with a greatly improved kitchen area alongside a new dedicated chef’s table.
