Monte Rei played host to the recent Celebrity Golf Event held as part of the International Gourmet Festival 2012. The week long festival that featured leading Chefs from around the world, included Golf within the Entertainment for the first time.

Chefs mingled with the VIPs and competed for the day's individual and team prizes, while being rewarded with fine dining at Michelin Star Gourmet Stations that were positioned every six holes, along with specially selected wine pairings.

At the end of the tournament, a prize giving ceremony and cocktail reception took place in the elegant lounge of the Monte Rei Clubhouse, where the celebrated and award-winning chef Jaime Perez presented the attendees with miniature samples of his gastronomic delights.

2012 will bring a major amateur Event to Monte Rei, with the hosting of the Sir Michael Bonallack Trophy from 25th to 27th April. 

The Bonallack Trophy is an international match contested between elite Amateurs from Europe against their counterparts from Asia/Pacific, and is played over three days in a match-play format. With previous participants that include Rory McIlroy and the Molinari brothers (Edoardo & Francesco) who have since enjoyed Ryder Cup success, as well as Pablo Martin, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño, Oliver Fisher, Danny Lee, Richie Ramsey & Joost Luiten, who have all since won Events on the main European Tour, it is certain to include a host of emerging talent.
